No-cost Jynneos Vaccine Clinic

Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by infection from exposure to the monkeypox virus and can spread from person to person through direct contact with the infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids. It also can be spread by respiratory secretions during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex.  Anyone in close physical contact with a person with monkeypox can get it and should take steps to protect themselves.

Community Health Centers of the Central Coast will be conducting a NO-COST JYNNEOS vaccine clinic on Saturday, September 17th from 9 AM to 12 noon at CHC-Del Valle, located at 430 S. Blosser Rd. in Santa Maria.

This is a NO COST vaccine clinic
Open to the public, ages 18 years and older
No appointment is needed

The JYNNEOS vaccine helps to protect against the Monkeypox virus when given before or after exposure. *2 doses are required at 3-4 weeks apart.

In line with state and national standards, the following groups have been prioritized for monkeypox vaccination in Santa Barbara County:

  • Known close contacts of monkeypox caseswho are identified by public health via case investigation, contact tracing, and risk exposure assessments. (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP))
  • Individuals with certain risk factors who are more likely to have been recently exposed to monkeypox even if they have not had documented exposure to someone with confirmed monkeypox, such as people who attended an event or venue where there was known monkeypox exposure. (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)++ )
  • Gay or bisexual men and transgender persons 18 years of age and older who have had multiple or anonymous sex partners in the last 14 days including engaging in survival and/or transactional sex (e.g., sex in exchange for shelter, food and other goods and needs)
