Why CHC?

Community Health Centers of the Central Coast – or CHC for short, operates 28 accredited, Joint Commission-certified health centers in 16 cities, spanning over 120 miles of California’s Central Coast. Founded in 1978, CHC is fortunate to have the stability and longevity that comes from providing Primary Healthcare services for so many years while also increasing the number of ancillary services offered to our patients.

Operating under the patient-centered care team model, CHC provides a supportive infrastructure to improve care, quality and clinical outcomes. Our multi-specialty group practices allow for our providers to refer internally and reduce clinician burnout by providing a capable team of medical support staff, along with a state-of-the-art EHR system.

At CHC, we respect the uniqueness of both our patients and our clinicians. Working here, you’ll have access to colleagues from diverse specialties with equally diverse cultural backgrounds. The ethnic mix found in our service area–including African American, Asian, Caucasian, Latinx, and Native American – offers clinicians a diverse patient population.

Enjoy the Benefits of a Group Practice

Being part of a multi-specialty group like CHC affords you more time to spend with loved ones and allows the flexibility to pursue personal interests outside of work, leading to a more balanced and satisfying quality of life.

CHC offers a competitive base salary, plus incentives for production and quality, to ensure security and potential for additional earnings. A comprehensive benefit package includes a 401k retirement plan, Life, Health, Dental, Disability, and Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) Malpractice Insurance. Along with paid vacation and other time-off benefits, we provide CME Book Allowances.

CHC  is also a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).
“This health center receives HHS funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.”

As an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer, we actively solicit applications from women, people of color and protected persons interested in serving ethnically diverse, medically underserved populations.

CHC is dedicated to improving the health and safety of our community and the patients we care for. As a ‘best-practices’ leader in healthcare, we strive to lead by example. COVID-19 vaccinations are required for all CHC staff (exceptions are considered only for those who cannot get vaccinated due to religious beliefs or qualifying medical reasons). We request proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for all employees to deliver on this commitment.

Living on the Central Coast

While the CHC headquarters are located in Santa Maria, the reach of our clinics stretches as far north to the quaint, picturesque small town of Cambria and as far south as the flower fields of the Lompoc Valley. Nearly a 93 mile stretch along the central coast corridors of Interstate Highway 101 and the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway 1. Most of the communities with CHC clinics offer a small-town feel with modern conveniences along with an abundance of exceptional dining options, wineries, majestic beaches a stone’s throw away, lakes, and golf courses.
