Scholars of Change

Here at Community Health Centers, our organization of over 500 dedicated staff make their contributions to the community on a daily basis, providing healthcare services, patient support, and the myriad of work to keep our clinics running smoothly.  Often, many of our staff rise above and beyond their job descriptions to help renew and strengthen CHC's ties to the community and committment to our patients' health.

One of these people is Sarah Leavenworth, a Master's candidate at Walden University.  Working at CHC has inspired Sarah to pursue post-graduate work in Public Administration.  Sarah, with the help of Jose Guzman of CHC, filmed, produced, and entered a video titled "Small Steps: Social Justice in American Healthcare" in Walden University's "Scholars of Change" contest back in June.  The videos were intended to demonstrate how their degrees are helping them make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of those in their communities.  Viewers of the submitted videos were encouraged to vote for their favorite and most compelling entry and Sarah was chosen as one of the winners of the contest!  The proceeds of the $2,500 award were donated to Community Health Centers.  We wish to take this time to congratulate Sarah for her award and give our thanks for selecting CHC as her recipient of choice.  CHC also welcomes her nascent voice as an advocate for organizations like ours across the nation and look forward to her future career contributions to a vital healthcare safety net.

Sarah will complete her MPA coursework at the end of the summer.
